Team SD Worx had a strong lineup for today's Paris-Roubaix Femmes however they found themselves on the backfoot, and defeated by Trek-Segafredo as Elisa Longo Borghini took the win. Lotte Kopecky has talked about how the race went and the conclusions from her second place.
"Disappointment still prevailsI felt pretty good today and we were in control of the race. But in a split second the situation changed and we had to chase after," she said in a post race interview. Early on in the day, she found herself in a dangerous attack together with Lucinda Brand and Marta Bastianelli, however the team had told her not to go full-on in that move.
"I was also told that I should not or should not race on full, because I was not really the leader. It was mainly a bit of pressure on the rest, not so much trying to ride away. We were still counting on Chantal Blaak and Christine Majerus," Kopecky said. On Twitter, she stated that she didn't have a problem with the strategy, however it may have been a lost chance as in the end the team found themselves having to chase.
"Well, it's a shame. We were caught and then three others go. And suddenly Longo Borghini was alone. It's a shame, but she was very strong... We were in good hands until Longo Borghini was left alone. You just know you have to ride behind her, but we couldn't close the gap. So you can say she is the strongest today," Kopecky concluded.
With a second place, alongside van den Broeck-Blaak's eighth spot it's hard to call SD Worx's performance disappointing, however it is the general feeling in which the team has arrived to at the Velodrome.

Laten we dit niet uit de context trekken. Ik had daar geen enkel probleem mee. Als renner wil je altijd het hoogst haalbare en ben je niet happy met plek 2. Maar niets heeft te maken met die situatie. 😉
