Alberto Contador began to emerge in 2005 and exploded completely in 2007. At that time, he had to measure himself against Michael Rasmussen or Carlos Sastre. Very soon came the Schleck brothers, with whom he maintained a great rivalry, especially with Andy. But if we remember the greatest adversary in the career of the Spanish rider, it has to be Chris Froome. The two now battle once again.

Between them they dominated the decade of the 2010s. The Briton won 7 Grand Tours, including 4 times the Tour de France, 2 the Vuelta a España and 1 the Giro d'Italia. For his part, the Spaniard added 2 more wins in the Vuelta and 1 in the Giro, in addition to the 4 Grand Tours he had already won in previous years (although his palmarès would be fuller, if it wasn't for the suspension he had to go through).

In addition, they were also the men to beat in one-week stage-races often. Some time after Contador's retirement and with Froome already at the end of his pro career, the two will meet again, this time in a BKOOL event, next Monday, November 25, 2024.

The Head of Marketing at BKOOL, Ángel Luis Fernández, shared his joy at being able to count on two cycling legends: "It is the most important event in the history of BKOOL and of all virtual cycling. Bringing together two cycling legends of this magnitude, who once starred in a historic rivalry, making them compete and offering the possibility to any fan to ride with them, is something unique".

For his part, Alberto had kind words for his eternal rival: "The battles against Chris were always very hard. What surprised me the most were his final attacks, after a very hard work by Sky. I'm delighted to be able to meet him again, this time at BKOOL".

Froome was not far behind and also praised what will once again be his opponent: "It's great to start the off-season training with a friendly competition in BKOOL, and even better with my old rival Alberto Contador! We recently met in Miami and he's still in top form, so I have no doubt he won't make it easy for me".
