World champion Elisa Balsamo has been disqualified from Paris-Roubaix Femmes after an excessive use of a sticky bottle whilst trying to re-join one of the chasing groups during the race. The situation took place inside the final 40 kilometers, where TV footage has shown the Trek-Segafredo rider hanging on to a bidon from her team car, and hang onto it for a large period of time, overtaking two riders who were on the road,
Footage then showed Balsamo back in the chasing group, and her disqualification was confirmed.

- We’ll see. I’m still trying to figure out how GT cycling went from being a climbing defined event to a 3 week event around a couple of short TTs. All the contenders more or less cancel each other climbing and then grow huge (as the media defines the time spans now) gaps when riding on bikes not made for GTs, quite ironic really.Mistermaumau21-05-2025
