AG2R Citroën Team will be heading to the spring classics with a strong lead that was built out over the last few years, with Greg van Avermaet and Oliver Naesen spearheading the French team. Oliver's brother, Lawrence is expected to be in the team for the cobbles, however that is in case he manages to regain his form in time after having suffered a setback due to a recent injury.
“After my surgery, I was soon able to start cycling on the exercise bike again. On March 7, I was back on my road bike for the first time. I am now working on my preparation in the Flemish Ardennes," Naesen said. After starting off his season in Spain, his first race on Belgian territory at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad ended with an early crash that led to a broken collabone.
"I hope to get back in shape as soon as possible," Naesen concluded. Being a part of the team's cobbled classics block he has an important role this spring. Although having missed a small period of training, it is not impossible for the Belgian to still present himself in the classics at top form, specially as Paris-Roubaix comes a week after
