Egan Bernal returned to the peloton after an incredible recovery at the Tour of Denmark, where he proved to be an important member of the team in the defense of Magnus Sheffield's ambitions, and had a successful return earlier than expected from everyone.
To be thinking of big results is perhaps too early, but the Colombian is ready to compete further and get the racing kilometers in the legs. This week he will travel to Germany where he will have the hilly Deutschland Tour from the 24th to the 28th of August, and in September he will be racing the Italian Autumn classics - according to Gazzetta dello Sport's Ciro Scognamiglio, he will race the Giro della Toscana, the Coppa Sabatini and Memorial Marca Pantani.
It has also been reported that he will be racing the Cro Race from the 27th of September to the 2nd of August, the 2.1 race which was won by Stephen Williams last year, in preparation of what may be his final race of the season and main goal, Il Lombardia.
Although INEOS Grenadiers are likely to have other cards to play at the Italian monument such as Tom Pidcock, Richard Carapaz, Daniel Martínez and several other quality climbers, Bernal can be an important part of the team, or even contest a result if the feedback from this month and a half of racing is good.
