Alpecin-Deceuninck have been down in Spain recently for another team training camp and throughout the spring they have decided on the calendar of it's leaders. Kaden Groves, one of the team's new additions, will have several opportunities to lead the team as he eyes wins in stage-races.
Groves has had a strong stint with Team Jayco AlUla, spending three and a half seasons with the Australian team. Last year he's taken stage wins at the Vuelta a Espana and Volta a Catalunya. The stage-races were where he succeeded the most, and Alpecin-Deceuninck are opting to continue that method as Groves heads into the 2023 season.
The 24-year old has already started the season at the Tour Down Under, where he finished fourth in the prologue but couldn't take part in the fight for victories at the sprints. After some more training Groves is returning to Europe where he will restart racing at the Le Samyn classic on the 28th of February.
As Jasper Philipsen focuses on the cobbled classics this spring, Groves will have more room to lead the team, having key roles at both Paris-Nice and the Volta a Catalunya. For this spring the Australian fast man is also counting on being present at the Volta Limburg Classic before a debut in Paris-Roubaix.
