Jonas Vingegaard back to action as he looks to take victory at Itzulia Basque Country

Jonas Vingegaard is returning to racing this afternoon at Itzulia Basque Country as he looks to regain his winning ways. After a triumphant Gran Camino, he was hit a psychological blow at Paris-Nice where Tadej Pogacar won all three mountain stages.

There Vingegaard finished third, also behind David Gaudu who rode to second. Here he will face the Frenchman once again, in a race that isn't perfectly suited to the Dane but one where he should be a main favourite. The many hilly and mountainous stages in the Basque Country will see Vingegaard in pursuit of the overall win.

Alongside him are some of the riders expected to support him at the Tour de France. Steven Kruijswijk and Attila Valter will be the two most important supporting riders in what will be difficult terrain to tackle, where gaps in descents and splits in the peloton are expected throughout the week.

Rohan Dennis may also be of great help in case he finds his best form. Gijs Leemreize, Sam Oomen and Lennard Hofstede complete the lineup as the base of the team for the week.

Jumbo-Visma for Itzulia Basque Country: Jonas Vingegaard, Gijs Leemreize, Sam Oomen, Steven Kruijswijk, Rohan Dennis, Lennard Hofstede and Attila Valter.
