Italian sprinter Matteo Moschetti severely injured after being hit by truck during training

Italian sprinter of Q36.5 Pro Cycling Matteo Moschetti won't make an appearance at the upcoming Czech Tour, after he was hit by a truck during on Tuesday, just before setting off for the 2.1 race. Judging from the severity of his injuries, it wouldn't be surprising if the 27-year-old Moschetti was not to race again in 2024.

The dynamics of the accident are not yet clear, for Matteo Moschetti, who according to what the Gazzetta learned was hit by a truck on Tuesday. The 27-year-old sprinter from Lombardy with 9 professional victories to his name, was transported by helicopter to the Niguarda hospital in Milan following the accident.

An initial assessment of his conditions, which will necessarily be updated to Wednesday, reports two fractures to the vertebrae of the neck and a fracture to a clavicle, with cuts and damage to the nerves of the face. Moschetti does not remember anything about the accident, so as mentioned the dynamics remain to be clarified.
