The nowadays Ineos Grenadiers are still somewhat lagging to get back on the success track left behind by their predecessors, who have won 12 grand tours between 2011 (Chris Froome at the Vuelta) and 2021 (Egan Bernal at the Giro). In the era of Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel, it'll be hard to grow their own Grand tour winner. And so the British team is in somewhat of a tight spot, trying to figure out their identity in the modern-day peloton.
Team managment made it clear that rather than signing a 'winner of today', they'd prefer to find a 'winner of tomorrow'. Ideally for a fraction of salary. With the young multi-talent Tom Pidcock, climber Carlos Rodriguez and the time trial superstar Joshua Tarling, the future of the British doesn't look so shabby, but can any of them bring the sought-after big victories?
As always, there'll be also new names joining in for the party in 2025. The signing of the 18-year-old Peter Øxenberg seems like more of a long-term project, but as we approach the opening of the transfer window, more 'certain' rumours emerge from all sides.
Among the new names in Ineos Grenadiers colours from 2025 onwards should be Victor Langellotti. The 29-year-old would thus become the first professional from Monaco. Currently racing in the Burgos-BH outfit, Langellotti has particularly impressed on shorter to medium-long climbs. His biggest professional victory came at the Tour of Turkey 2023, where he beat Alexey Lutsenko with a brutal attack in the final of a 4.6km 7.8% climb. According to Daniel Benson, he would join on a two year deal.
Langellotti wouldn't be the only fresh blood pouring into Ineos veins as a potentially even more interesting transfer is emerging. Alpecin-Deceuninck already confirmed the departure of the U23 World champion Axel Laurance after this season. And according to WielerFlits, Ineos should be in a pole position to secure the talented French puncheur's services for years to come.
