Israel - Premier Tech stagiaire Riley Sheehan surprises to win Paris-Tours

Paris-Tours included plenty sprinters and classics specialists of world-class quality, but it was a stagiaire of Israel - Premier Tech who took the victory. Riley Sheehan has presented himself to the cycling world in the French classic.

A breakaway of five riders set off on the day and the breakaway ended up being a key part of the race. As the riders headed to the gravel sectors, the gap remained significant and with the constant attacks behind, the gap ended up not being closed quickly.

Lewis Askey moved solo off the front from there on, and he was later on caught by a group containing teammate Olivier Le Gac, Tovias Johannessen, Riley Sheehan and Joris Delbove.

It looked like a group that wasn't overly threatening as it lacked many of the big figures, however that was not necessary. The peloton did not have enough gas. Le Gac launched the sprint for his teammate Askey, but in the end it was Israel - Premier Tech's stagiaire Sheehan who sprinted for the triumph, beating Askey and Johannessen.
