Bryan Coquard is one of the sure bets and headliners of the French sprint for many years. In 2023, the French speedster finally claimed his first World Tour stage victory at Tour Down Under, but the 31-year-old's ambitions don't stop there yet, he confirms to Cyclism'Actu.
"We are leaving for Spain tomorrow for the first winter training camp, in the sun like every year," reveals Coquard. "I still have the desire. I took more than five weeks off, it was a good break after a big season, we had to regenerate. I'm leaving with the same desire as usual, that of preparing well."
"We now have to push ourselves hard throughout the winter to have a solid foundation and have a good year. The idea is clearly to do better than in 2023, even if it was already a good season." For this, the sprinter with more than fifty career successes will change his program compared to last year and skip the Tour Down Under.
"I started in Australia, and even if it obviously remains an excellent memory with my first WorldTour victory, I won't go back there in January. We decided to do it a little differently, because it is a long and big trip. I have my sights set on French Championships and Tour de France, which could suit me well. I hope to finally get a stage victory, I'm tired of it! For the rest, we're still in the process of developing the program."
