After 7 years spend around the professional cycling world, Kenny Elissonde returns to a French formation for 2024 season. The 32-year-old sets reintegration into domestic Cofidis structure as a big challenge for himself.
"It's a good challenge to reset yourself, to find new motivation. With Cédric, we had a good discussion and we found this challenge interesting." The Frenchman is eager to showcase his experience as an old veteran to the men in red and white. "But also take advantage of the opportunities that the team will give me on the road from time to time. They will come by themselves, naturally," emphasizes Elissonde.
The team is carrying a good momentum from 2023, when they broke a long victory drought at the Tour de France with double stage win by Victor Lafay and Ion Izagirre. "It’s certain that it made me want to be part of this team and this progression. Cofidis worked well last year, so I hope it will be the same thing next year," admits the climber.
Next year, Elissonde could get more chances for himself too, he thinks: "It's not a team that only races around the leaders, with teammates who are there just to be teammates all year long. So I'll also have to help bring results."
