"It felt like Bambi on ice" - Ceylin Alvarado loses the victory in Val di Sole, but keeps a good mood

Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado seemed to be on her way to victory in the Val di Sole World Cup for a long time, but the leader in the World Cup standings made several mistakes in the second half of the race and eventually saw Manon Bakker take the race victory.

"The course was fast, but there was also heavy snow. It had everything. In some parts it was really good and I got the flow, but then I made mistake after mistake after mistake. There were too many and that cost me the victory," said Alvarado in a quick interview.

"It was very tough and it felt like Bambi on ice," she can still laugh after the snow cross. "You were riding on ice everywhere, there was no real grip anywhere. It was often a gamble and therefore you had to take the bends slowly."

Alvarado had to skip a cross weekend last week due to illness and she still felt that. "That was really disappointing," she says. "It was difficult to ride over the limit and stay clear. And I felt that I was very tired at the end. In the end I didn't win, but I'm really happy with those points for the World Cup rankings."
