Jonas Vingegaard is back to race winning ways! After coming up just short in a titanic tussle with Tadej Pogacar at the 2024 Tour de France, the Team Visma | Lease a Bike leader has bounced back strongly to claim the overall win at the 2024 Tour de Pologne.
"It feels good to return in this way after everything that happened in the spring", Vingegaard reflected after Sunday's final stage in conversation with Team Visma | Lease a Bike's official website. "To be honest, I thought my season was over after my crash in the Basque Country. I even feared for my career for a while. My performances in the Tour and here in Poland are better than I could have imagined."

As an added bonus for Team Visma | Lease a Bike on the final stage, Olav Kooij sprinted to the win, meaning a double reason for celebration on the team bus. “I was very motivated to win a stage here,” Kooij assesses post-stage. “I managed to do it twice in the end, so I can leave this race satisfied. The field of sprinters was very strong. Today it was again a close sprint with Tim Merlier. I took the lead at the perfect moment. It was a great day for the team.”
"We can look back on a successful week," concludes Vingegaard, who is now likely to focus on his family, as his expectant wife nears childbirth. "Not only for me, but for the entire team with the first and third place in the final classification and two stage wins for Olav. Now I'm going back home to support my pregnant wife. I'm really looking forward to that."

leedorney16-11-2024 - Most cycling sites in English are behind a pay wall. And I assume they do not show you ads then. I also would live to see all news for free and no ads. Not sure then how they will pay all writers. Or maybe they also work for free. Just because they love cycling.
