"He is going to have a great future" - Jonas Vingegaard full of praise for Thibau Nys after third Tour de Pologne stage win

Although Jonas Vingegaard leads the 2024 Tour de Pologne after 6 stages, there is little doubt over who has been the star of the race so far. With three stage wins in his pocket, that honour goes to Lidl-Trek wonderkid Thibau Nys.

The son of Sven Nys, Thibau has already shown his capabilities in cyclocross and throughout this year has taken multiple victories. At the Tour de Pologne however, Nys has seemingly kicked up another level again with no fewer than three uphill stage wins in six days.

“It was a tough day, but we did fantastic. The guys rode incredibly strong. The last metres were very tough," Tour de Pologne leader Jonas Vingegaard reflected post-stage 6 in conversation with Team Visma | Lease a Bike's official website, full of praise for Lidl-Trek's young superstar. "My congratulations to Nys. He is riding great here and I think he is going to have a great future."

For Vingegaard himself however, it was another successful day, keeping hold of the overall race lead confidently. "My goal was to keep the leader's jersey and I succeeded with verve," the Dane concludes his assessment. "In tomorrow's sprint stage, I don't expect too many more problems, although we have to stay alert.”
