With it now official that Cian Uijtdebroeks will ride for Team Visma | Lease a Bike during the 2024 campaign, the Belgian is already looking forward to the future.
"It will not be at the Vuelta but it will be at the Giro - the Giro will be the second Grand Tour of my life and I'm really looking forward to that race to see how it goes there," Uijtdebroeks said at the presentation, outlining his goals and seemingly steadfast in his belief that he will be riding for the team in 2024.
With Team Visma | Lease a Bike and BORA - hansgrohe now having come to an agreement, Uijtdebroeks was coy when asked the reason why he wanted to leave. "I didn't feel good at Bora. That's why I decided to break my contract. I'm not gonna go in detail about that WhatsApp group, we know why we broke our contract. I chose for my own wellbeing."
"We really have big ambitions to win stages and then for myself, I want to try to be good in the GC," he says of the upcoming Giro d'Italia. "There's not a lot of pressure on me - I have a free role and we'll try to see where we are. It's nice that guys like [Tadej] Pogačar are also there to see how they are and how much we still need to improve."
