"I decided to go for only one attack today" - Tadej Pogacar details Saitama Criterium win

The riders are mostly now on their off-season, but during this period Tour de France organizers have inserted the exhibition Saitama Criterium in Japan. Many of the race's stars were present in the race and Tadej Pogacar took the victory.

"I was waiting for that final race part, and I decided to go for only one attack today. It was a great success," Pogacar said following the race. The event ended with a sprint between Pogacar and Sepp Kuss, with the Slovenian comfortably taking the win. As part of an exhibition race however such results are not unusual.

Asked about what he's planning to do next season, the UAE Team Emirates rider replied quite openly: "We always have discussions, all year we're just thinking how to race, that's our job. We think about it from when we wake up until when we go to sleep. It's something you always work on and you don't stop."

However the answers have already been given over the past few weeks. There isn't yet a certain plan for 2024 but it will most likely include a return to the cobbled classics and the Tour des Flanders, followed by the Tour de France and Olympic Games, and then a third main block focusing on the World Championships in Zurich and Il Lombardia.
