Thymen Arensman, one of the fresh faces, of this season for INEOS-Grenadiers is still adapting to his new team dynamics. The Dutchmen have already done 3 stage races and have big ambitions for the rest of this season.
"Maybe in the meantime, you get used to it a bit. At the training camps in October and December, I really thought: wahoo, where did I end up? But in the end, I am also part of the team, just one of the riders, and my teammates have faith in me. Still, it remains special", Arensman said to Algemeen Dagblad.
The 23 years old cyclist, has been racing all his career in Dutch teams (DSM was part German also), and now sees himself on a British team with new training and race dynamics. Now he is in a new environment and feels excited about this.
"I consciously chose a foreign team. It takes me out of my comfort zone, with big names and all different nationalities. That can never be a bad thing. It is mainly a British team and things are a bit different there than in a Dutch team.", he said.
Arensman left his home country to move to Andorra, and with this, he had to give up his studies and now is fully focused on professional cycling.
"There is full-time coaching of the team there, everything in terms of food, clothing, equipment, and cycling is there. They want to set up a kind of team base there. Then it would be stupid to stay in the Netherlands.", he concluded.
