"I weigh 60 kilos, I won't be able to stand on the bike with such wind" - Jonas Vingegaard agrees with decision to cancel Paris-Nice stage

Paris-Nice saw a lot of action today, however most of it off the bike. The stage was cancelled due to forecast of very strong winds and consequences that came alongside them, and Jonas Vingegaard agreed with the decision taken by the organizers.

"With gusts of 100 km/h, it's not possible to run, it's too dangerous. Even in Denmark, I don't go out when it's blowing so much," the Dane admitted to RTBF. "I weigh 60 kilos, I won't be able to stand on the bike with such wind. You have to be careful not to end up in the ditch."

It was set to be a very important stage in the race, as the strong winds had echelons as a very real possibility, and the final loops around La Colle-sur-Loup had very steep climbs where the overall classification could play out once more. It was also an opportunity for Jumbo-Visma to try and bounce back after stage 4's disappointment.

Tirreno-Adriatico also had it's final climb shortened, and with the effects of the weather palpable as the block headwind led to a GC group sprint once more. Stage 7 of Paris-Nice however is set to move forward, as the riders head deep into the Alpes Maritimes and take on the tough summit finish at the Col de la Couillole.
