Dylan Van Baarle dropped out from Tirreno-Adriatico during stage 6. The Dutchman from Jumbo-Visma were backing up Primož Roglič during the race, after a very strong Belgian classics opening races. He stated "physical problems", possibly related to his crash sustained in the race.
"Unfortunately I had to give up. It's not something serious, although I need to rest now. I hope the guys can finish it in Tirreno-Adriatico", Baarle said on his personal Instagram. recently. The Omloop Het Nieuwsblad winner has shown great form over the Opening Weekend, and was here with the goal of improving it further towards the main block.
However that was not the case, as within the race he took a tumble and was then forced to abandon. Despite his DNF, Jumbo-Visma assured on a team announcement, that there is no question of a serious injury.
Still, It is not yet clear what Van Baarle's abandonment means for the rest of his program. He is scheduled for E3 Saxo Classic (24 March), and will be looking to perform at the Tour des Flandres and Paris-Roubaix where he will - baring disaster - start with the number 1.
