Hugo Hofstetter has been one of the most consistent riders this season, despite some bad luck, but today at the Tro-Bro Léon he has snatched his first win of the year after surviving the chaotic race and bringing the win to Arkéa Samsic.
The 207-kilometer long race was marked by the bad weather, which has gotten the traditional dirt and cobbled sectors in dreadful conditions which has led to many crashes and mechanicals. A race of tactics, technique and luck - besides having the legs. Arkéa Samsic and Lotto Soudal were the two main teams in the race, both having many riders near the front in the closing stages but having mechanical problems frequently change the race situation.
The winning group of three riders emerged from the final sectors, with Hugo Hofstetter, Luca Mozzato and Connor Swift heading into the sprint - and finishing in this same order. The Frenchman took his first win of the season, just over a month after having received 35 stitches due to a disk brake accident at Circuit Cycliste La Sarthe.
Lotto Soudal's chase proved unsuccessful at the end, however Arnaud De Lie got important points at the end of the race by winning the sprint behind.
