"He saw it on TV and loved it" - Pascual Momparler on the importance of having Van Aert in the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior

Pascual Momparler, who in addition to being the Spanish cycling coach is the organizer of the CX Benidorm World Cup race and the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, wanted to highlight the great importance of the presence of Wout van Aert in the Andalusian race.

"The presence of Van Aert for the Clasica de Jaen means a lot because he is one of the cyclists with more media coverage," he explains. "It's been 6 years since he raced races like this, but he has seen it on television and he loved it."

He emphasized, in declarations collected by Marca, that the race will have a new section of gravel that could be decisive: "A new section that ends 3 km from the finish line, with a downhill and uphill that will add sauce to this race".

He also wanted to highlight the presence of Carlos Rodríguez ("the race suits him very well") and Juan Ayuso ("he adapts to whatever you put on him").

Regarding the World Cycling Championships to be held in Zurich in 2024, Pascual believes that the Spanish national team will finally be competitive after several years complicated by the toughness of the course:

This year the World Championship is very hard, it is very good for us. We are already working to make a camp at altitude. The riders want to go for the gold in Switzerland, that will be the goal. We will also have the Olympic Games, although the course is not as suitable as the Worlds. With the riders we have, we have to aim for the podium."
