This weekend, the Czech town of Tabor will become the epicentre of cyclocross, hosting the World Championship. The Spanish representation will be headed by the experienced cyclist from Alicante,
Felipe Orts, six times national champion in the elite category.
Orts, a native of La Vila Joiosa, arrives at the event after an outstanding performance in the last World Cup race in Hoogerheide, Netherlands, where he achieved a creditable ninth place. His experience and skills make him a key player for the Spanish team in this event. The national coach, Pascual Momparler, has announced a solid call-up that includes 15 cyclists in the elite, under-23 and juniors categories. In the elite category, Orts will be accompanied by Kevin Suarez, Lucia Gonzalez and Sofia Rodriguez, who will seek to leave the name of Spain high in international competition.
The under-23 representatives are Alain Suárez, Miguel Rodríguez and Raúl Mira, promising young riders with the potential to shine in the world cyclocross elite. Meanwhile, in the junior category, the Spanish delegation will include Lorena Patiño, Maier Olano, Aroa Otero, Ana López Burgos, Irati Aranguren, Hodei Muñoz, Unax Galán and David Ivars, who will seek to stand out in the youth competition.
The World Cyclocross Championships in Tabor proposes a demanding competition program, distributed in three races for the Saturday day and another three for Sunday. The history of this stage already has memorable chapters, having hosted the competition in 2001, 2010 and 2015. The weather conditions, with rain forecast, are expected to add an additional challenge to the participants, raising the excitement of an event that promises great moments of international cycling.
