Groupama - FDJ's Jake Stewart was assaulted today during a training ride in his training roads near Manchester, England.
Stewart's partner Georgia Hilleard, of the Boom Pods Cycling Team, has shared on social media today pictures of Stewart's state having been, according to Hilleard, tackled, threatened and assaulted. The incident happened in New Mills, on the outskirts of Manchester this morning and has left Stewart with very noticeable bruises and cuts on his lower back, shoulder and hand.
It is unclear at this moment if the injuries will interfere in the Briton's training schedule. Stewart has this week announced that he's temporarily missing competition due to intestinal issues and doesn't have a date to return to the peloton. His training would remain relatively unaffected, but it has lead him to be violently assaulted whilst out on the road.
