Former biathlete Florian Lipowitz joins BORA - hansgrohe as stagiaire

After the likes of Anton Palzer and Ben Zwiehoff, BORA - hansgrohe continue the search for world-class cycling talents coming from other sports, and yesterday they have announced the signing of Florian Lipowitz as a stagiaire from the 1st of August onwards.

This trainee period will last for the rest of the 2022 season where the German rider will be looking to test his legs at World Tour level. Lipowitz is 21 years old and is a former biathlete, who only entered pro cycling in 2020 via the Austrian Tirol KTM Cycling Team.

Lipowitz will be making his debut in the upcoming Czech Cycling Tour and will be racing throughout the rest of the season in order to get experience. The German has finished in the Top25 of both last editions of the Tour of the Alps, and has mostly gathered attention due to his promising climbing skills.

Team manager Ralph Denk has ensured his confidence in the move: “Florian has had considerable success as a cyclist in a very short time and has proven his potential, especially in the mountains. For us, career changers are an exciting prospect, and I am pleased that we have been able to sign him as a stagiaire..."
