Filippo Ganna tries to leave behind disappointing Worlds, focuses on Hour Record and Track World Championships

Filippo Ganna has finished second in the Mixed Relay TTT at the World Championships, but most importantly was not able to defend his individual time-trial title, where he came home a distant seventh place.

“I think it was just one shit day for me and it doesn’t matter. We close the book and we see for the future, for the next goal," Ganna told reporters as he wrapped up his stint in Australia, leaving without the medals he had hoped for after he struggled in the rugged route in which Tobias Foss thrived to take a shocking title.

Ganna will not be riding the Road Race, but instead focus on his Hour Record attempt which is scheduled for the 8th of October, and the Track World Championships which take place the following week.

He'll hope to show better form. “I think it is a little bit different. The Hour is a little bit more a constant in the pace, whereas here is a more intensive effort," he said. "Tomorrow [Thursday] morning at 6 o’clock I have a flight to go back home, and I will try to recover to try and do the best for October 8.”
