Festival Elsy Jacobs: Marta Bastianelli takes overall win in chaotic finale as Veronica Ewers take solo win

Veronica Ewers took the win on the final day of the Festival Elsy Jacobs with a late solo move for EF Education-TIBCO-SVB, whilst Marta Bastianelli took advantage of a late crash to distance Demi Vollering and Silvia Persico, and take the overall win of the race.

With Vollering and Persico on the move with 19 kilometers to go, the peloton was saw the general classification fight kick off, albeit with little damage. It was a crash with eight kilometers to go that split the reduced bunch, seeing a group of 12 riders go up the road.

With little coordination, Veronica Ewers attacked with five kilometers to go and took advantage of the group's lack of proper pursuit. The American created a gap and successfully kept it towards the finale, taking her first pro win. Marta Bastianelli and Karlijn Swinkels completed the podium, sprinting in the chasing group eight seconds behind.

With Vollering and Persico having been caught out in the split after the crash, Bastianelli managed to overtake them in the overall classification, which she conquered with this move.
