Egan Bernal won't make appearance at Tour of Norway

Egan Bernal seemed to be the big eye-catcher in the Tour of Norway. The Colombian was on the provisional start list for the Norwegian cycling race, but is not part of the final selection of INEOS Grenadiers. The 2019 Tour de France winner is currently in Monaco, where he is training.

“Once again the Tour of Norway has a great starting field. With Egan Bernal we have an ex-winner of the Tour de France at the start, who can count on the support of riders like Luke Plapp and Magnus Sheffield.” The organization of the Tour of Norway announced earlier this week that Bernal will appear at the start.

After Tour de Hongrie, the 26-year-old climber also talked about the Tour of Norway as the next intermediate station, but Bernal decided to change his plans. The two-time grand tour winner decided to fly back to his home country Colombia after the Tour of Hungary. The climber has now been in training for almost a week in Monaco, his European base.

Bernal will probably be back in action in just over a week. The rider is on the provisional start list of the Critérium du Dauphiné (4-11 June). Whether Bernal will also appear at the start of the Tour de France on July 1 is still unclear. The Colombian is not yet sure whether he will be selected.
