Wout van Aert seriously considering start at Belgian ITT Championships

Will Wout van Aert and Remco Evenepoel clash at Belgian Championships time trial next month? According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the Jumbo-Visma rider is seriously considering participating in the national title fight in Herzele.

Van Aert will in any case participate in the road race in Izegem (June 25). Three days earlier, the time trial in Herzele is on the program and the 28-year-old rider would therefore seriously consider participating, also because Van Aert has again made a goal of the World Championship time trial this year.

Van Aert has already become Belgian champion against the clock twice in his career (in 2018 and 2019). A duel with Remco Evenepoel may be imminent, because the latter also seems to focus on the time trial.

Van Aert is currently in his last days of a three-week altitude training in the Sierra Nevada. In the south of Spain – together with his teammates Jonas Vingegaard, Tiesj Benoot, Nathan Van Hooydonck, Christophe Laporte, Steven Kruijswijk, Dylan van Baarle and Wilco Kelderman – the Belgian lays a first base for the upcoming Tour de France. The riders will leave their base in Monachil on May 29.
