TotalEnergies had Peter Sagan at risk of missing the Tour de France due to Covid-19. Although the Slovakian recovered just in time, it's lost an important weapon as Cristián Rodríguez will be forced to miss the race after coming down with the virus.
As a replacement, Edvald Boasson Hagen will be coming in to form a part of Peter Sagan's leadout train. The Norwegian has three Tour de France stage wins in his palmarès and is heading for his 12th presence at the Grand Boucle, a ready substitute for Rodríguez although one that won't be able to achieve the same results.
With Pierre Latour not having shown results since returning after injury, TotalEnergies is hence having a weak point in the mountains, and will be having to focus more on the flat and hilly stages to bring success from the race.
