TotalEnergies have announced their lineup for the upcoming Tour de France, revealing a well rounded-out team that will be looking for stage wins in different terrains, led by Peter Sagan.
Havnig overcame a third Covid-19 infection, the new Slovakian national champion seems to have kept at least some of his form throughout the last week, and has successfully returned to competition. A stage win would be a big ask, but he above all rider knows how to fight for and win a points classification and that should be his other main objective. Although not having a traditional leadout, Daniel Oss and Maciej Bodnar's presence will have him lined up towards the sprints once again.
He should also be eyeing the cobbled stage, an equal objective to Anthony Turgis. Turgis will also be eyeing some hilly and rolling breakaways where he can feature as a favourite. For the hilly stages the team has a new weapon in Mathieu Burgaudeau, winner of a stage at Paris-Nice, he's shown to be able to compete with the best in the world in the explosive finales of which there will be two in the opening week.
Breakaways should be the priority though and all riders above apply. The climbers should have similar ambitions, with KOM a possibility too. Alexis Vuillermoz just came from a stage win at the Critérium du Dauphiné, Cristían Rodríguez has finished second at the Vuelta a Andalucia and won the KOM classification at Itzulia Basque Country showing his climbing skills, and Pierre Latour is returning from injury to add more climbing firepower to the team.
