Eduardo Sepulveda signed with Lotto - Dstny, and he is tasked with improving performance in the mountain stages. He hopes to play a significant role in the team’s journey to WorldTour status.
His only achievement this season is the fourth stage of the Tour of Turkey. "It was a very happy day for me when I came back to win.I was lucky to attack at the right time, there was a flat section there, and I was able to gain a few seconds; then the favourites looked at each other and fortunately, I was able to keep the lead until the end,” described the Argentinean rider.
His situation with Drone Hopper - Androni is well known. After being told of the potential funding problems, he looked for other opportunities. "We knew that the sponsor was having problems, but then they started saying that the team might close and the riders and staff started to worry about the situation. It wasn't easy. Now I'm thirty-one years old, and there are a lot of young up-and-comers that teams pay attention to,” explained Sepulveda.
His gratitude goes out to the team for providing him with this opportunity, and he hopes that he can help the team to regain its WorldTour status. “The team specialises in sprints and the classics, but they also intend to work in other areas, in stage races and in the mountains. They wanted to form a group of climbers for this type of race, and I am with this group. We will have to be careful with the points because we have to win the ranking if we want to race the three Grand Tours every year,” concluded Sepulveda.
