Dylan Groenewegen will be leading Team BikeExchange - Jayco at today's Dwars door Vlaanderen where he will be hoping for a conservative race where the sprinters have a chance of contesting the win.
“I always love to go back to Dwars door Vlaanderen because it is a race that I like. The route is challenging with its many climbs, and I think it will be a small group to fight for the victory," Groenewegen said in a pre-race press release by the team. Although the race isn't as hard as most of the cobbled classics in the spring, it will be a tough challenge for the Dutch sprinter, however he will be leading the team with the ambition of being there in the finale for a bunch sprint.
"To have a good race, you need to be in shape and have a lot of luck. Last Sunday at Gent-Wevelgem, for example, I was fine, and I was in a good position, but then I punctured, and my race ended at that moment," Groenewegen concluded. BikeExchange won't be the only team seeking a sprint finale, so their chances of success are realistic. The Dutchman has finished second in the recent Brugge-De Panne Classic and should have enough form to be within contention for the race.
Team BikeExchange - Jayco for Dwars door Vlaanderen: Dylan Groenewegen, Luke Durbridge, Alex Edmonson, Kelland O'Brien, Alexander Konychev, Luka Mezgec and Campbell Stewart.
