Dramatic finale on stage 2 of the Tour de l'Ain sees Jefferson Alexander Cepeda defy a sliding Michael Storer to take victory

Michael Storer slid his way across the line but couldn't take a dramatic victory ahead of Jefferson Alexander Cepeda to take the win on stage 2 of the Tour de l'Ain.

Three riders were holding off the peloton entering the penultimate climb of the day. Maxime Jarnet, Mads Østergaard Kristensen and Thomas Devaux with a lead of over two minutes. With 20km to go though, they had all been reeled in.

As the GC battle then erupted, Michael Storer, Hugh Carthy, Jefferson Alexander Cepeda and Kenny Elissonde began to show their class. With the final 15km descending to the line, Carthy was sadly ruled out by a crash. In the final, it was a photo finish at the line with Cepeda actually nudging Storer and bringing him down.
