Demi Vollering ready for Tour de France Femmes after double Suisse victory: "I know that I can completely exhaust myself"

Demi Vollering is aiming for the Tour de France Femmes and Olympic Games later this summer and she is having a monstrous Tour de Suisse Women so far. The Dutch rider has now won two out of two stages and is increasing his lead.

“The last climb was very tough. I saw at the intermediate point that I was only third, but then the part where I really wanted to push came to the limit," Vollering said in a post-race interview. “I know that I can completely exhaust myself in the final of a time trial. I did that and fortunately it was enough for the victory. I am also extending my lead in the general classification. I am also happy with that”

The Team SD Worx-ProTime rider won both stages finishing at Villars-sur-Ollon. She beat Elisa Longo Borghini today by 18 seconds and now carries a lead of 1:26 minutes into the final two days of racing. This is the best sign the Vollering could experience, with the Tour de France Femmes not far away on the schedule.

“I feel good. I am certainly not in top form yet, since this is not a Tour to peak for. But I am surprised by my current level of form. I am very happy with that. Hopefully I can continue this form towards my biggest goals."

“If you look at the ranking, I am indeed doing well. For our team, it will mainly be a task not to let a large group ride away in the next two days. We have good riders who can handle the terrain of the coming days well. For some riders in our team, there are still chances of success here. I hope we can ride two more good stages. I have a lot of confidence in that," she concluded.
