Could Domenico Pozzovivo's time as a free agent be coming to an end? Israel-Premier Tech transfer possible

As 40-year-old, free agent, Domenico Pozzovivo looks to continue his career, rumours have been flying around with many teams linked. However the gossip and hearsay could soon be at an end with Israel - Premier Tech set to pick up Pozzovivo according to reports.

Following his one-year stint at Intermarche-Circus-Wanty coming to a close at the end of 2022, Pozzovivo has previously expressed his desire to continue racing at the highest level. "I hope to have more clarity soon," he said last month. "I think I will race again."

Although Israel-Premier Tech were one of the teams relegated from World Tour level at the end of the 2022 season, they are in fact still racing in almost all the elite races thanks to wildcards granted to them by the UCI. According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, the Israeli team are the frontrunners in the race to secure Pozzovivo's contract and may do so in time to allow the Italian his dream of competing once again at the Giro d'Italia.

With the likes of Chris Froome, Michael Woods and Jakob Fuglsang in their ranks, if Israel-Premier Tech could add the former eight-time Grand Tour top 10 finisher Pozzovivo they would be able to boast a strong group of climbers that could contest for Grand Tour stage wins and maybe even threaten the general classification if on top form.
