The rumour had been launched, but it's been confirmed today. Egan Bernal's recovery is further delaying his European start to the season, and Paris-Nice is now off the table.
Velonews have reported that Bernal will not take to the start of Paris-Nice - where Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard are set to battle. There is currently the possibility that he will race the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, as Volta a Catalunya is also under risk. The Colombian is recovering from a knee injury suffered during the Vuelta a San Juan.

"These pains take time, you never know when it will end, but Egan is fine, although of course he is disappointed not to be in Europe racing at the moment," team principal Rod Ellingworth said in a recent interview. "You have to know calm down Egan because he is ambitious. He will not do Paris-Nice and we do not know when he will be able to race. We rolled up our sleeves, we looked at all the areas in which we can improve."
"A guy like Geraint Thomas brings a lot of experience, especially from a tactical point of view, and we have to balance that with our younger riders, who are developing," he continued. "I think we are in a transition to support these young guys including Tom Pidcock. He made a fantastic Tour debut last year and has Grand Tour ambitions for the future. However, it's all about development and progression. You have to wait for your moment. competition is very strong, we have no guarantee, we will not go to the 2023 Tour with the huge favorite, but the guys will be competitive and ready"
