The Classic Grand Besançon Doubs was one destined to be fought between the climbers and puncheurs, and it delivered as Cofidis swarmed the front of the race with their strength in numbers to take an important win which has steered them further away from the relegation spots.
The 177-kilometer long classic saw Jesús Herrada take a strong solo win in Montfaucon. The Spanish rider has gone onto the final meters with a lead over the chasing group which has earned him his first triumph since the 2021 Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana. His teammate Victor Lafay completed the job by sprinting onto second place, coming first in a group which saw Alexis Vuillermoz completing the podium.
