Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig won the third stage of the Tour de France Femmes. The Danish rider finished ahead of Marianne Vos to secure the victory.
Marianne Vos, Thalita de Jong, and Ellen van Dijk tried to create a breakaway early in the stage but remained unsuccessful. On third climb, the Côte du Mesnil-sur-Oger, the peloton broke into pieces.
Lorena Wiebes managed to take some lead. However, she was soon caught up by the peloton. Then, 24 kilometers before the finish line, Ashleigh Moolman and some other riders took the lead with a gap of 1 minute.
Van Vleuten, Demi Vollering, Liane Lippert, Elisa Longo Borghini, Mavi Garcia, and Silvia Persico soon joined Moolman. Van Vleuten struggled to keep up with the group, but she stuck with the breakaway.
Niewiadoma was the first to sprint and was immediately countered by Vos. Ludwig overtook Vos in the final 100 meters to secure the victory. Vos finished second . Moolman finished in third place. Vos continues to lead in GC with now 16 seconds advantage over Silvia Persico.
