Marianne Vos over the moon with Tour de France Femmes second stage victory - "This is just a beautiful day. I really can't describe it, I really don't have any words right now"

Jumbo-Visma rider Marianne Vos secured her first stage victory in Tour de France Femmes. Vos beat Silvia Persico, Katarzyna Niewiadoma, and Elisa Longo Borghini in the sprint to secure her victory.

Yesterday she lost against Lorena Wiebes and finished second, but today, she was not going to repeat the same mistake. "This is not revenge for yesterday, this is just a beautiful day. I really can't describe it, I really don't have any words right now," said Vos.

She maintained the lead throughout the stage. She joined Elisa Balsamo and Elisa Longo Borghini to create a 30-second lead over the peloton, which the group held till the finish.

"We had to be sharp and focused today. We knew it was going to be narrow after the passage, and on top of that, the wind played a role. Elisa went ahead after the intermediate sprint, but I did not expect that we could stay in front," Vos explained.

She also overtook Wiebes in GC ranking with her victory, and tomorrow she will start the stage with yellow jersey. "Yesterday the team did a perfect lead-out to the sprint. Today, it was a perfect lead-out to the final. Today we went for the stage win, but the fact that we can also start in yellow tomorrow. That is extra nice," concluded Vos.
