Carlos Verona has spoken about the importance of
Einer Rubio's victory for the
Movistar Team. The Madrid cyclist explained to Eurosport of his delight at his teammates victory at the finish line of the 13th stage of the
Giro d'Italia:
"Finally, I think we had a lot of bad luck in this Giro and today we finally had our day and we are very happy, nothing had gone right so far, especially with Fernando Gaviria in the sprints, but we knew we had Einer Rubio, that he is still very young, but that he has a lot of talent. I am very happy for him and for the team."
He tells the curious way of how he found out about Einer's victory by not having the team radio during the last climb:
"I was with the general classification until the start of the last climb, then I got off the hook thinking about reserving strength for other days, then I met some Basque fans who told me that Einer had won, so I really enjoyed the last 3 km knowing that my teammate had won."
