Caleb Ewan will be present at the Australia's national championship next Sunday. Along side his teammates Jarrad Drizners and Harry Sweeny to help him, Ewan aims the victory on his home country national race. Despite being reported to have given up in the Australian criterium championship due to slight illness.
"It feels great to compete for the national jersey again this year. The course is pretty tough though, but if I have a good day, I can compete for the win", reported the ambitious Australian on
Lotto Dstny's team site.
The riders will have to complete sixteen laps in an almost 12km circuit that will include the Mount Buninyong climb, a 3.0 Km climb with an average slope around 5.2% in a 185km race. So it is a circuit that gives possibilities to teams and riders that don't want the race to end in a bunch sprint.
"It is difficult to predict how the race will go. Jayco AlUla probably holds the key. They have a strong team and will do everything to avoid a sprint. But I also have two strong teammates, we are ready for battle", stated Ewan in relation to that.
"My last participation in an Australian championship dates back to 2019. I was close once before though with a second place and I captured the title in the Under-23s on the same course in 2014", stated the Australian about the course, reveling confidence and some knowledge about what will be the difficulties and way of racing to expect on the championship that will take place this Sunday.
