After a very strong start to the season and an impressive third place at the recent Flèche Wallone, Aleksandr Vlasov has put himself high up on the list of contenders for the win at today's Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
The Russian climber is no stranger to hilly races, having had several of his eight pro wins on days not too different than today's, however the competition is at almost at it's very highest which will make for a difficult task. Vlasov, the winner of the Volta a Valencia early in the season, has recently finished on the podium of the GP Miguel Indurain, Itzulia Basque Country and Flèche Wallone, in a very consistent spring campaign.
He should have the leadership, however the team can also rely on Wilco Kelderman and Jai Hindley for outsiders, or weapons in BORA's possible strategy to make the race hard from early which would favour his less-explosive style of racing. Sergio Higuita however remains a wildcard, having lost the form that saw him conquer the Volta a Catalunya. Nevertheless it is a team with several options, which can target a high result in the streets of Liège.
BORA - hansgrohe for Liège-Bastogne-Liège: Aleksandr Vlasov, Giovanni Aleotti, Cesare Benedetti, Sergio Higuita, Jai Hindley, Wilco Kelderman and Ide Schelling.
