Aurélien Paret-Peintre achieved what he came for at Giro d'Italia. The AG2R Citröen Team rider won a tough stage 4 with finish to Lago Laceno and then proceeded to hold on to general classification to finish 15th overall. In a press release, the Frenchman talks about his recent Italian experience.
"I'm really proud of what I've achieved in this Giro d'Italia. It's immensely satisfying to have been able to raise my arms in a grand tour. The contract has been fulfilled, with a fine overall result," Paret-Peitre sums up.
"We were able to take risks during the three weeks of the race, and to play an active role, as we did in the breakaway with my brother Valentin on stage 16. That day, even though I lost time on the other favourites, I took my destiny into my own hands. I arrive in Rome with no regrets. I've had good legs over the last three weeks, and that gives me the appetite to keep up the momentum this season," Paret-Peintre concludes.
