- I have zero time for the Lance Armstrong apologists. And my disdain for him runs deep. He is an indelible stain on the history of cycling, and the common defense that 'everyone else was doping too' is a tired, reductive excuse that ignores the full scope of his misconduct.
His legacy is defined by his character, not just his race results. Armstrong wasn't just a participant in a doping era; he was a malicious, calculating bully who weaponized his influence to destroy those who dared to challenge him. He will forever remain a disgrace to the sport.
- Yeah, surely Jonas is 58 kg...
- It sounds like he pissed off another teammate.
- No, we don't.
If his problem is limited to doping, then it's not so bad. He bullied and sued those who even hinted him of doping, destroyed the career of a clean cyclist. Have you read the report published by USADA?
- If what he knows is “I haven’t got a hope in hell of winning this thing”, then yes - we also know that.
- I can't believe that Remco has not had a race program leading up to the Tour. Maybe he knows something we don't..
- Agreed. Amazing the difference a new coach and more modern training techniques make.
- No. He just trains harder than the rest of them.
- The world is not black and white. Infections do not act as expected always.
I get all of that.
It is curious to me that 2 riders, same team, different years had crashes and got life threatening infections.
It makes me wonder, maybe not you. I keep saying the same thing 10 different ways. You're not wrong in stating it might be nothing, any more than I'm wrong wondering how this went down?
- The Visma doctors have seen my posts, they are flying me to Belgium this evening so I can make sure Wout is cleared of all infections.
