Stage 18 of the Tour de France was one of those rare flat stages where the escapees are able to beat the peloton. The quartet of Kasper Asgreen, Pascal Eenkhoorn, Jonas Abrahamsen and Victor Campenaerts had no more than a two-minute lead throughout the stage, but they made it to Bourg-en-Bresse and Asgreen ended up winning.
As they do every day, Lance Armstrong and George Hincapie commented on the Grande Bouce on their Youtube channel The Move and showed their admiration for what the breakaway riders did to finish ahead of the big group.
"Patrick Lefevere is going to sleep a little better tonight (yesterday, ed.)," commented Lance Armstrong, referring to Soudal Quick-Step's horrible Tour de France until Asgreen's win. Hincapie, for his part, was incredulous at what the breakaway had done: "If you saw Campenaerts and Asgreen pulling, it looked like they were in a team time trial.
Still incredulous, Armstrong pointed out the poor advantage they had throughout the stage: "They never had more than 1 minute and 45 seconds, these breakaways usually have 3-4 minutes, but 1:45 is nothing."
