Allan Peiper hints that Tadej Pogacar might race in Glasgow: "It's a race he can win too"

Allan Peiper, Tadej Pogacar's mentor at Team UAE for many years, but has now left the team, went to Paris yesterday for the end of the Tour. He still has a good relationship with the Slovenian, who has not yet decided about his World Championships participation.

A broken wrist in Liège-Bastogne-Liège disrupted Pogacar's preparation. "I think there are many possible reasons, that's one of them," Peiper told Sporza.

The Australian sees more things: "That his spring was long, that his season only ended last year with his win at Il Lombardia. That his winter was short. I don't think you can say that there was 1 particular reason."

Wouldn't it be a good idea for him to go to the World Championships after all? "That would be possible. I was in Glasgow a month ago. I told him it's a race he can win too. With short steep hills at 6km and 2km from the finish."

The fact that Pogacar has already canceled a few after-Tour contracts may point in the direction of a World Cup participation. "It could be," laughed Peiper. "I think there will be a lot of riders at the World Cup who have a chance."
