Jumbo-Visma are on an all-time high, but in the long-term their luck may not be as good. The team's main title sponsor Jumbo may be on their way out in a few years, leaving the Dutch team and it's projects looking for another big source of financial means.
“At the moment we are looking at our positioning," a spokesperson of Jumbo said. "In addition, we also check whether our sponsorship policy still matches our vision and ambitions and the needs of our customer." The Supermarket chain has been title sponsor of the team since 2015, and the main one since 2019, as the team turned into Jumbo-Visma.
As Jumbo-Visma, the squad has seen Primoz Roglic win three Vuelta a Espana editions, embarked on a journey to conquer the Tour de France - which was achieved last year alongside the green jersey - and are not unquestionably the most successful classics team in the peloton - up until now winning all five of the main cobbled classics. It's a partnership that has worked to perfection but may have reached it's climax.
The sponsorship is guaranteed until the end of 2024, but not from there on. “...We are now looking at whether we can add a new dimension to the collaboration from 2025. All scenarios are on the table.” More information on the topic is likely to emerge over the coming months as the two negotiate terms.
