It is the end of November and it's time for Tadej Pogacar to get back to serious training. The UAE Team Emirates rider won all the way into the end of his season at Il Lombardia and after visiting several countries, he now resumes training two weeks before the opening team training camp in the Alicante area.
Pogacar was in the UAE for sponsorship duties and a small camp for the team to meet it's new riders, and has also spent time back home in Slovenia, alongside his current residence in Monaco. Recently he raced the exhibition Beking Criterium in Monaco, and in an Instagram post today he's shared quite a few memories of the past month together with his partner Urska Zigart but also of celebrations and parties he's attended.
"Spent some busy but nice days in Slovenia, Italy and Monaco," he wrote. "Had a blast, thanks to everyone that invited me to all different things, experiences.. loved every moment, but now lets refocus and all eyes on next season! Until next time".
Pogacar's rivals have however been active already... Jonas Vingegaard reportedly already started training a month ago and has the clear task of closing the gap to the Slovenian, whilst Remco Evenepoel has recently spent time at the Specialized headquarters in California, USA, in order to chase further gains on the time-trial bike with some wind tunnel sessions.
Pogacar is set to start his season at the UAE Tour most likely, although we have talked to UAE's Joxean Matxin who provided insight into his goals and that this may include racing events that he hasn't yet won: "All the races he hasn't won yet. Without any doubt and, obviously, the Tour de France for the repercussion and for what it represents. That said, repeating victory in races he's already won is putting his fist on the table and saying here I am and here I go in races I control".
