The rumours have finally been officialized, as on the opening day of the transfer season
Uno-X Pro Cycling Team confirmed the signing of the country's most popular and successful rider of the last decade,
Alexander Kristoff.
The team announced the signing on social media this morning, confirming that Kristoff will be joining the team from 2023 onwards. The 35-year old was said to have the interest from
Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux to renew the contract after a relatively successful season so far, but over the last few years Norway has watched the consistent and ambitious growth of the Uno-X Pro Cycling Team, which ended up providing an offer that suited the veteran better.
Signed until 2025, it is expected that Kristoff will have a crucial role in helping the development and sharing his experience in the sprints and cobbled classics with the younger generation of talents that the team is keen on working with. Having taken three wins this season, including a solo win at the windy Scheldeprijs, Kristoff has shown to still have the legs to fight for big wins and will likely be increasing the team's ambitions in those terrains.
With Tobias Johannessen signed until 2024 the team is looking towards it's long-term future and has ambitions of joining the World Tour in the upcoming years. They will be hoping that Kristoff's influence and assistance throughout the team can play a key role in it's evolution, aswell as providing the Norwegian with a safe home and the continuation of his career for another three years.
